PentiumMの冬

自宅でサーバに使用しているPCはCeleron400M。静かこの上ないのだが、さすがにそろそろリプレース時期ということでPentiumMのマザーを先週の木曜日に思い切ってMSIの 915GM Speedsterちゅうボードを買いました。

で、セコセコとBSDなど入れてみたりしているのですが、いや～思いのほか静かです。
こりゃええ・・・といいたいところのなんですが、新しい（そしてマイナーな）石のおかげでいろいろと問題が。

まぁ、時間が解決するかな・・・

問題１オンボードのLANが動作しない。このマザーはMarvell 88E8053というギガビットイーサが2個載ってるんですが、これのドライバが認識しない。開発元のページを見てみると、

Note: Marvell 88E805x with p.ex. DeviceID 0x4361 will NOT work with this driver. Stay tuned for more happy days.

といった按配。これではサーバのリプレースには使えないではないか・・・と思ってたところ、なんとMarvell社からFreeBSD用のドライバがあるでわないですか。いれたらさくっと動きました。ただしRELESE-5.Xだけ。ちうわけで、バージョンは自動的に5.4となりました。開発が終わったら6にしよう。問題２ OnBoardのVGAでXがなんかうまくうごかん。 Xorgなど見ると、このチップセットで動いてくれそうな気がするんですが、どうにもうごいてくれません。まぁXは優先順位が低いので、とりあえずATIのPCIのグラボさしてお茶濁し。問題３サウンドカードが認識しねぇ。 RealTekのALC880というのが載ってるらしいんですが、認識しません。ドライバ自体がまだ無い模様。こちらもRealTekのサイトにWindowsとLinux用はあるんですが、BSD用はない。まぁこちらも優先順位が低いのでSBを指してお茶を濁します。問題４電源が自動で切れねぇ。なんかACPIまわりがうまく動かない模様。まぁ電源は切らない予定なんでいいけど、でも温度が上がったら自動シャットダウンとかしたいよなぁ・・・こちらも待ちか・・・ちなみにpciconfはこんな感じでおます。
